Erdalsetra — Vesledalsetra — Erdalsbreen (Part of Jostedalsbreen Glacier)
Erdalsetra/Vesledalsetra:
A family-friendly walk that starts at the farm of Greidung. There are two summer pasture farms here – Erdalsetra and Vesledalsetra.
Erdalen is a branch valley of the Strynedal valley and extends 12-13 km in towards the Jostedalsbre ice cap. It’s a flat, wide, glacially-eroded, U-shaped valley whose floor rises in steps. The mountains on either side reach to more than 1800 metres.
Erdalsbreen glacier is situated at the head of the valley.

Starts from Jostedalsbreen national park center
The path ascends up through the forest with the Fosdøla waterfall cascading some distance below. Fosdalsetra, 375m above sea level, used to be a summer dairy farm. Three summer pasture farmhouses remain today, and you can still see the ruins of a couple of others.
Fosdalen is a short valley shaped by a glacier and a river. Even though snow avalanches and rocks often crash down the steep mountainsides, cows used to graze here and be milked in summer, and there has always been lots of sheep.

Start the walk by the commemorative plaque and information board in Bødal.

A family-friendly and exciting walk to the mountain farm of Segestad. Segestad is an old, well-preserved cultural gem.

The trail starts at Nygård camping, where you can park your car. It’s about 3 km long and mostly follows a well-kept gravel track. The last stretch goes along the main road leading down to Hjelle.
Evidence shows that farming has taken place in Hjelledalen for several thousand years. The track takes you through a modern agricultural machinery. Modern farming is characterized by homogeneous plant communities, called monocultures.
